[He almost misses the box on his way back to the grind, and even then, he has to double check to make sure that, yes, it is for him and not some other Spot. People say it’s the thought that counts, and here it really, really does. Makes that spot of his go all watery at the edges, hands scrubbing at his cheeks like he’s got eyes that can cry.

He doesn’t really have much to offer in return, but - he’s got hands and he’s got his portals, doesn’t he? He’ll do all that he can for Mel’s project in turn and hope it’s good enough.
